I’ve decided for this month’s tattoo special, I’m going to continue on the road of flowers.

If you know me at all, you know I love creating art that revolves around flowers. This March I will be focusing on the lily flower.

Much to my surprise, the image of the lily has been used for quite some time. Depictions of lilies, which date as far back as 1580 B.C., have been discovered in a villa in Crete. The lily flower has long played a role in ancient mythology. The word lily is derived from the Greek word “leiron”.   The Greeks  believed it sprouted from the milk of Hera, the queen of the gods.

The lily flower, in it’s many forms, has been given quite a few meanings including: the Virgin Mary’s purity (white Madonna  Lily), friendship, devotion, sympathy, wealth, prosperity, and humility.

If you are interested in taking me up on this offer, you can submit a picture of a lily that you would like to have me tattoo on you. Alternatively, you can just ask me to draw a lily for you. Also, keep your eyes open.  I will be posting  custom lily drawings that I want to tattoo this month!
